Waste Management

Bali has a centralized landfill namely TPA Suwung. It has been overload and becoming a mountain of trash causing bad odor, soil and water pollution, horrible view, excess methane production and any environmental and health problems.  Burning waste and illegal dumping are the others issues that can easily found on local community. Without a change of habit and waste management strategy, this issue will lead to a fall of all the living aspect of Bali, especially for tourism sector. Building a waste facility (composting site) close to community, or home based waste management have demonstrated as the best solution for the waste problem.

Pesticide Reduction

Our biodiversity has been decreasing since rapid development occurred on the last decade. That rapid development positively associated with the increasing of improperly use of pesticide which is considered as the main cause of biodiversity degradation in urban settings. However, it isn't necessary to use chemical to control the presence of pest as long as they regularly keep their surrounding environment always under the balanced ecosystem.

Biodiversity Monitoring

Bali today is lacking of online accessible of biodiversity's baseline data and information. Urban Biologist Bali are working to collect as much as possible of information about species such as birds, mammals (bats), reptiles (snake), insect (butterfly and common garden insects), marine invertebrates (sea shell), and plants (large trees, weeds, orchids, fungi, algae, etc.) especially on areas at urban setting. Hopefully, these information would help for sustainability development in Bali as well as contribution to national knowledge of biodiversity.

Carbon Offset

A Carbon offset is a way to compensate for emissions by funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving elsewhere. Offsetting provides a mechanism to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and combat climate change in the most cost-effective and economically-efficient manner. Though composting is already offsetting harmful GHG's, Planting is also a great way to help sequester carbon emissions. Additionally, it provides wildlife habitat and support biodiversity. Currently, we prepare native broad-leaf tree species for planting project through villages in Bali.
